Children's Musuem

We went to a new children's museum last week with some of our sweet buddies! They had so much fun! While we were there, we got to watch a magic show! It was adorable! The girls loved it!

This was Marin's favorite part. She loved building "statues"!

And now for the magic show.....

Hollis is having fun, I promise. She just loves the camera. :o)

Marin got to help and be a part of the magic show!

The buddies on our hunt for the pizza place!

We love those guys!

Day Camp!

Our church doesn't do VBS but they did do a little "day camp" for the littles of the church. It was perfect! The were put into groups and the groups traveled around to different stations...crafts, Bible story, Critter Cafe (snack), and games! It was so cute and the girls had a great time! Burke was home so it ended up being something we all got to do together!

I love this picture. So sweet!

 They had a GREAT time!

The girls loved their teachers! Mrs. June is actually our neighbor so that was fun for Hollis!

Mrs. Brenda does Meals on Wheels too! Love all of these ladies!

Preschool Calendar Time

We try and do calendar every day. I will be honest, calendar time, is not my favorite. But it is such a great way to teach so many basic skills so I push through it. We have our rhythm with it so we usually can cover all of it pretty quickly and it is great daily reinforement for the girls.

This is what our calendar looks like. My pocket chart calendar is a DIY project. It orginally was a cheap mini pocket chart from the Dollar Tree. Then I just stitched lines down it with my sewing machine for the days. Easy Peasy and it works perfectly! Last year I had seasonal numbers and we would count the apples or count the leaves, pumpkins, etc. But this year I left our numbers blank with grey font. We talk about what the day is and trace the number on the correct card. Then we have two colors for this month. You see the blue and yellow crayon at the top of the chart? Those are our colors for August. We are making an AB pattern with those colors. Each month will be different colors and pattern. But once we trace the number, we color in the box.  I usually let my youngest do that part.

Both girls have a notebook but my 4 1/2 year old enjoys it the most. She writes in it daily as we do the big calendar together. It is great fine motor practice for her...writing the numeral, coloring in the box, etc.

Work at the table....or on the table.... whatever works.

Then we check the weather. I made my graph for one week only. The sheet is in a page protector so they use a dry erase marker and X the weather for the day. On Friday, we look back and read and analyze our graph.
We have songs we sing for the months/years/seasons. But they do draw a line through or circle on their sheet.

And SONGS!! These are the only way I get through calendar. We sing! The weather song actually changes every day but we sing these months/days songs pretty much every day. There are so many more out there. Learning Station has great songs for days/months!

If you are interested in the our calendar notebook, you can check it out by clicking on the picture below! It's on sale today!

A Little Birthday Celebration

The girls made my birthday extra special with a cake they made by themselves! Plus they decorated and wrapped a pair of my shoes for me to open. :o) So, so cute! We missed Burke during the festivities but work called him away. Next year, dear...

The little party planners hard at work!

Yes, hard, hard at work.

And then the serenade....

We love a reason to celebrate!

Let's Make Some Slime!

So our orginal plan for the school day was to read about and make maps (a Marin favorite). But Marin ran across a You Tube video about making slime. We happened to have all the ingredients....SO....maps were postponed and a little science "class" began. :o) The girls had such a fun time and they loved using all the measuring spoons and stirring and watching it magically turn into slime. So, so, so, cute. And so, so, so EASY.
