Books! Books! Books!

The Newberry Library had a HUGE book fair and we went today. When we got there, the line to get in was wrapped around the block. They had seven rooms full of books...stacks and stacks of books for sale. Most of them were $1!
Here's what we got...all for $37!

The baby got some books too! My favorite...Planes!

ONE MONTH

Burke and I have been husband and wife for a month today! Yay! Looking forward to many more....

Bad picture but 2nd Cubs game a couple of weeks ago. It was HOT, HOT but the Cubs won! And I had my first stranger ask me if I plan on breastfeeding. Creepy!

For Betsy...

Betsy, my sister in law, posted a recipe on her blog a few days ago and Burke has talked about it non-stop. So, being the good wife that I am, I made it for him for his homecoming from a work trip. Betsy warned that there were a lot of ingredients but there are a LOT of ingredients.
Buffalo Chicken Mac and Cheese....our version.

It was very good but a little too hot for us. I am a wimp when it comes to spicy.
And every meal has to have something GREEN!!!

And thanks to Bill and DeeDee, I made some sweet tea for our monogrammed pitcher! (Burke would have preferred Sangria....)

And for the baby's sweet tooth, Freezer Caramel Drizzle Pie.....

It was great to have him home again and to eat all this food!

New Name

Check out the new name....

18 Weeks

Here's the porch pooch picture at 18 weeks-ish. (I'm not a fan of pregnancy math. I'm not a fan of any kind of math though.) But we had a doctor's appointment this week. It was a pretty boring visit. No ultrasound but we were able to hear the heartbeat. It was in the mid-upper 140s. It was sweet! The last two days have been wonderful! Hopefully, fingers crossed, the "swine flu" stage of this pregnancy may be making its exit!

I'm not sure what Burke was doing with this picture but you can see the baby from my angle. :o)

My mother-in-law gave me this Pregnancy Journal and it is so helpful for us. I'm not the greatest at journaling but it does have a section for the doctor's visits. We write down questions we have throughout the month for the doctor. It was so helpful at the appointment going down our list and knowing we hadn't forgotten anything! Thank you, Mary Beth!

While we were down there, we ordered me a new passport with my NEW NAME! We have most of the other paperwork done. But as we were walking back to the train, we saw the Eye.

Of course, we had to get a picture. I always think that I look more pregnant when I am standing next to Burke.

And baby shower dates are set! We have some great friends across the country!
Huntsville, AL shower- August 14
Austin, TX shower- September 11
Atlanta, GA shower- October 3
Can't wait to see everyone again!

Summer Treats

I haven't had any cravings yet but I do eat tons and tons of fruit. I love fruit even when I'm not pregnant but when I feel the nausea coming, I eat fruit. So when we got a food processor as a wedding gift (Thanks again, Watson family!), I started making fruit pops. These are strawberry/blueberry and strawberry/peach!

Burke is happier about them than the picture shows...I promise.

Quick, I mean quick, trip to Atlanta!

Burke had an overnight work trip in Atlanta, so I tagged along to visit some friends!

It was so wonderful to see Suzy and

Amy and

Kim, April, and RaDora! (Jessica, you were missed!)

I also loved seeing Merrilee, my most favorite hair dresser! She cut my hair and I got a great visit with her! Such a sweet friend. (Curly hair people get very attached to their hair dressers.)
And we were even able to get a quick cup of coffee with Mary Joy! It was a fast trip but so wonderful to see everyone!

Hollywood on Michigan Ave

Burke and I had to run errands down town again and we saw the Transformers 3 filming on Michigan Ave. We had seen on the news where they shut down Michigan Ave for the movie, but we forgot all about it until we were down there and saw this....

and this....

and then the helicopter....

with the parachuters...

Then they turned the cameras on us and said "action". We yelled, "help us transformers, help us."
Not really.
Honestly, we haven't seen the first 2 movies and more than likely won't see this one either. But the parachutes were cool.

2 Minutes and 23 seconds

Here is the whole 2:23 ceremony documented in photographs.

First, the judge that kept saying ,"You do know this is a short cermony?"

"Marriage is good and wonderful...."

Burke, "I do."

Stacey, "I do."

and...husband and wife!

"You can pick up your certificate here from 9-5 on Monday through Friday."

Live happily ever after.....

More of Amy's Pictures...

Love love love the bow tie. Love love love the man. (Look at the line of people waiting to get married...)

Of course, we were first in line....

Amy's Pictures from the Wedding

Amy posted pictures on Facebook and I stole them. They are so cute!

So thankful for these sweet friends!

Scratch That

So I went to Target today and found this crib bumper on clearance for $8!

Pottery Barn's crib set for $150 is definitely out of the running.

So now I will use some of that fabric and make a crib skirt.
They had hot pink, bright blue, and solid green colored crib sheets for $7, so that will cover all the colors.

Hopefully, the stripes and dots will make the baby so dizzy that he or she will sleep through the night.
If I only had a sewing machine...cough cough....

Baby's Room Possibilities.....

So this is the bedding I'm probably going to get....except it will have CHOCOLATE stripes. And if its a girl then we will throw in some hot pink fabrics here and there and if its a boy...bright blue. Its plain and simple (which is very Burke and Stacey) but without knowing the gender (sorry Sarah, although your frustration is slightly entertaining to me because, well, I am a mean person), we have to go pretty neutral and I will not do anything with a zoo or jungle or ABCs theme...or ugly pastel colors. BLAH!

So, today I went to the craft store and found this fun fabric with all the colors we may need...brown, hot pink, bright blue, and some green. It is bright and cheery even though it doesn't look like it in this picture.

And with the fun stripes...some polka dots! This may be for the changing table cover thing or a little trim around the stripes.

Now this fabric will go on this shelf (AKA the baby's soon to be transformed into a little wardrobe because Mommy has to use your closet) shelf. The fabric will be a curtain and we will hang any clothes or clutter I want to hide. More pictures of the shelf/wardrobe transformation to come. We are slow moving these days. Well, I am slow moving these days. I am still waiting for the 2nd trimester bliss. I still have the 2nd trimester blaughh (that was meant to be a throw up sound but I don't know how to spell a throw up sound).

And for the blue and pink baskets we already have...I bought some brown rick rack to wrap around and tie in the brown theme a bit.

And the latest basket purchase, big bright green ones. They will get some brown rick rack too and they will go on the "wardrobe".
And this is a little side note. Joann's had baseball card frames on sale for 60% off! I was excited. Burke was eh. But I love personal things framed and hung. Much more meaningful than store bought artwork. Burke has 1800 billion baseball cards from his childhood all stored in a box. I just thought it would be fun to frame them and if its a boy they can go into the baby's room. If its a girl, they can go in the baby' room. Or the kitchen. I mean, 60% off.
