Easter 2014

Easter Fun 2014!

Dyeing Easter eggs.

The Easter Bunny came to our house!

Tippy Toes to see....so excited!
BTW, the Easter Bunny didn't mind that she was wearing her Santa PJs.

So Happy!

Then our best buddies and neighbors came over for an Easter egg hunt! Graham was hilarious. He just wanted the candy inside so every time he found an egg, he sat down, opened it up, and ate his treat. That kind of slowed down his egg collecting.
Taylor loved it! And even though she is the youngest of the group (by a few months), she did great!

We had about  a 100 egg hunts at our house so by then Marin was a old pro.
She loved it!

And so did Hollis!!

Marin was sweet to share some of her eggs with her buddies.

After the hunt, we headed over to our neighbors for a Easter feast. Have I mentioned we love our neighbors/neighborhood?? We love it.

Garden!

This week we planted a little mini raised garden in our backyard. We have this little hidden space behind our garage, so we decided to try gardening in that little spot. Hopefully we won't kill it all or feed the squirrels and raccoons...

But we have a little squash, peppers, cucumbers, carrots, tomatoes, and watermelon! Hopefully by summer we will have some vegetables.
Burke said he wanted no part of the garden but, of course, because he's the best dad/husband he helped us out!

"Marin, where's your garden?"

This girl LOVES her garden. She really did all the work. Didn't want me to do anything.
So I just helped dig the hole and she put the plant down and buried it...all by herself. So very proud.

Our garden.
Hollis was napping during this part and we were trying to beat the rain.
But I saved her a tomato plant to plant in the black pot.
She did help water the garden which is probably their favorite part.
Marin made a little garden book in our "mom school". Her she is reading all the things are garden needs to grow.

In other news, we started the "Intro to Potty Training" with Hollis. She got to pick out her very own pair of panties. The ones she chose....Mickey Mouse Superhero boys underwear. Ha! She completely had her heart set on them! So stinkin' cute. Of course, they don't know the difference and she wanted to go to bed wearing her "mickey superhewo" panties. It's a start!

We've been busy.

We have been busy, busy, busy with home renovation projects. Seriously, just give us our own HGTV show. We have put down new floor. And when I say "we", I mean Burke. But we put down new floor in the family room, put up new tile on our fireplace, painted our laundry room doors ( I did do that one but Burke will be hanging them up), put up new windows in our kitchen (they are beautiful...never thought I could ever say that about a window but they are beautiful), and we still have a few more projects to go. A few sneak peeks.....

This is what it looked like when we moved in. I didn't get any other "before" pic.
Rats.
But you see the carpet and the beige tile fireplace.

Our new floor!!!! I absolutely love it.
We got a new slip cover for our couch too.
The plus to that was that the one I really wanted was on clearance!!
It's dark blue and soft!

The new and improved stone tile on the fire place. We still have to put trim around the edges but I love it too.
So so much. Burke did such a great job. I think I will paint the mantel a dark grey. :o) And the inside is going to be painted and pretty because we actually started a fire twice and it was pointless.
We mounted the tv as well. It just gives us so much more space in our family room.
Yes, ESPN, March Madness.
More home projects later for another post.

And now for the important stuff. The girls are absolutely precious and hilarious these days. A few of my favorite things....

1. Marin SINGS all the time. ALL the time. Burke called her a little song bird the other day. And that is exactly what she is....a little song bird. Sings while she eats, plays, potties, rides in the car, watches a show. Sing, sing, sing. It is so cute.
2. Hollis TALKS all the time. I can't even begin to write all the things she says that is adorable because there are so many cute phrases. But she is super, super cute. And LOOOOVVVEES her baby dolls. I swear she is a little mini me as a child. Baby dolls were my favorite. I walked into her room the other day and she was sitting in her little rocking chair next to her baby's bed reading her a book. PPPPPrrrrreeecious. Of course, she looked up and saw me and said, "get out, Momma". Kinda ruined the sweet moment :o) but she is such a good little Mommy.
3. The girls play so well together!! I will ask Marin, "who is your best friend?" She will say Hollis. I ask Hollis the same question and she will say Marin. Melt my heart into liquid mush. But I did break up a brawl a couple of weeks ago and Hollis told me that Marin had bit her leg. I asked Marin if she had bit Hollis and she said "No Momma, I just pulled her hair. " Gotta love the honesty.

And now for some pictures. The girls love being in Burke's car. It makes me laugh. Of all the things they could play with, if they get to play in his car, they get so excited. I walked outside one day to find this.

Just reading the paper with Daddy-O in his car. :o)

Hollis was too busy to read the paper. She was bucking up her baby.

PRECIOUS!!!

A little bit of this and a little bit of that...

First, our neighbors had some baby goats for a couple of weeks. Marin LOVED them. She fed them and played with them! It was so cute.
Feeding the baby goat!

Uh, she may have shared her drink with the baby goat too.

This is as far as Hollis wanted to get to the goats. :o)

Marin, on the other hand, couldn't get enough of them!

And moving on to Dollar Tree buckets.....or blocks. I got them for a different project that never got done. But the girls build huge towers, castles, rockets....

A little help to get the top one...

And then....

knock them down!
And if you don't want a tower or castle or rocket....they make a great choo choo train.

Toot Toot!
And we got a warm day last week so we pulled out the water table. The girls have so much fun playing in the water. I added some clear water beads and they hunted for "treasures". Every time Marin found one she would say, "Argh, I found my treasure" in her best pirate voice.

In our little Tot School, we are reviewing all our letters. This day we did the letter G. We turned it into a goat.

And Marin was so proud of writing her name!
