Two Months

Marin's official 2 Month picture! (She loved sitting up in the rocking chair!)

At 2 months, Marin....
- has found her hand and fingers. They taste so good.
- will play/twirl her fingers around and around when she is concentrating on something. (Video below)
- has figured out that when she hits the rattles on her playmat they make noise! (Video below)
- still loves books!
- loves bright colors on the television.
- can blow bubbles.
- enjoys bathtime a lot more now.
- is an excellent traveler!
- loves a good bottom pat.
- will put herself to sleep at night. Her bedtime is still 9:30 and she will wake up at around 2:00 and then again at 6:00. (She was waking up at midnight, 3:00, and 6:00. I tried one night to cut out the 3:00 feeding and she would have nothing of it. Then a couple of nights later she changed it all on her own. I should have known from sharing a body with her that she likes her own timing of things.)
- still doodles a lot.
- still likes her passy but not as interested as much as before. She will spit it out and talk or chew on her fingers.
- drools like CRAZY!!
- oohs and goos all the time. She has more sounds she makes but grunting is still probably her favorite.
- loves, loves, loves her mobile on the changing table!
- still sleeps in our bedroom but after all the March travels are over, she will start sleeping in her crib.
- can't wait to be able to sit up on her own.
- cries when she is hungry or tired. Really she cries when she is hungry and then will whine a little when she is tired. She is on a pretty predictable schedule. She eats, stays awake for about 2 hours (two hours is her limit), and then naps. Great, great, GREAT baby!
- has officially outgrown all 3 months clothing. She is wearing some 3-6 month and mostly 6 month clothing.
-is the cutest in cozy pajamas.
- will let you know when she wants to be held and will let you know when she wants to be put down to play.
- still loves her music.
- has beautiful blue eyes and she lost all of her hair but it is growing back fast. We think he may be dark!
And the 2 month outtakes...
She loved sitting up in the chair. She thinks she is such a big girl.

"Get this over with already."

"My daddy is really funny."

"My daddy is really crazy."

LOVED sitting up in the chair!

I love watching her little fingers!

Marin, we love you so incredibly much! You are growing up too fast but we are loving every minute of you!!

Marin Visits Alabama

Burke had a long work trip and Alabama was having 75 degree weather so Marin and I decided to migrate south for a winter weekend. I mean, we wanted to visit family...the weather had nothing to do with it. :o) Let me just say, Marin is the best traveler in the whole entire world. This was my first solo trip and although I didn't pack wisely, Marin made it very easy for me. (Note to self: Take the carseat in the stroller and leave the Baby Bjorn at home. Security is a pain in the behind with the Bjorn.) But on both flights everyone just bragged about what a great baby she is...and she is such a great baby! We had a great trip and enjoyed a little sunshine while we were there! We love you all!

Playing with MayeMaye...

Meeting Uncle Tim for the first time. They chatted about their hairstyles.

Meeting her cousin, Will, and waiting for Drew to get off the bus. Will is officially my height...actually he is a little taller. Boo hoo. Marin loves her Will!

And Drew and Aunt Cissy are home. Drew is about my height as well...but I love that he will run off the bus to give me the biggest hug ever. They can be 6 feet tall and I will still love those great hugs from my nephews. Aunt Cissy is ready to spoil her little neice.

Snuggling with Will! (Roll Tide)

Drew had to fight for chances to hold Marin but he was pretty successful! After his basketball game, Drew got in the car and told his Dad, "I can't wait to get home and hold Marin."

Two Months...

Marin had her 2 month checkup yesterday. She got two shots and was such a big girl! Speaking of big girl, she is now 13lbs 12oz and is 23 inches long. She is in the 97% for weight (and head size) and 75% for length. She is growing, growing!

Some more play time...

Burke made her a recliner. And yes she is watching tv. I am a horrible mother that let's her watch Sesame Street and Word World. She loves the colors and music! And when she is older, I will be the nerdy mother that actually goes online to do the activities with each episode. Such cute shows!

A little Easter preview...

And this one is to show her new trick...blowing bubbles!

Marin loves her mobile and every diaper change she could look at the pictures for such a long time. Her sweet daddy sat up next to her and rubbed her belly while she watched the pictures.

LOVES THEM!

Some play time with Daddy!

Marin's 97% head couldn't fit into any of her hats and well, it is still VERY COLD up here. So here she is in her new cozy pink hat. It's a 6 month.

Her 2 month onesie picture will come soon....

Play Time

I have finally rearranged some furniture around so that Marin can have a little play space. Here are some pictures of play time...

Tummy Time: Marin usually likes tummy time. In California, we would put her on her improvised "bed" and she liked being able to lift her head and see us. Today, she was a little lazy (but it's cold and rainy outside...perfect day to be lazy). In this picture she is doing the superman thing and lifting her legs and chest up.

Side note: Do you see that adorable Brown Bear Brown Bear quilt she's playing on??? Cute!! A very special DC friend made it for Marin...thank you, Mrs. Norton!

Here she is eating the quilt. I know that this looks like a scary picture because you think she is suffocating but I wanted it documented that she has found her mouth and likes putting things in her mouth. Well, she loves putting her hand and fingers in her mouth (her favorite right now). But she will put my shirt or the Moby wrap in her mouth if she's able. I've offered her toys but she's not interested. Fingers and fabric...that's what she wants.
I just missed her looking at herself in the mirror. Oops.

A side glance. She rocked back and forth, back and forth...

The Bumbo. I pulled it out today to give it a try. She has great head control and she so wants to be able to sit up, but this thing still makes me a little nervous. I just don't want her head to pop off in one of her wobbly moments. But she did love it.

I wish this wasn't blurry because she is sticking her tongue out. She is doing that more and more! And she has learned how to blow bubbles!

Marin still loves books and will listen for a long time to us reading them. We got this plane book at a book fair this summer. I've started reading it to her when Burke is at work. When we get to this page, we point to the pilot and say "There's Daddy!" I may glue a picture of him on the plane at the end of the book. I figure if I start now, then when she's old enough, she may understand better when he's gone for work. Plus I think it will be cute to see her chubby little finger point to the pilot when I ask, "Where's Daddy?"

At her 1 month doctor's appointment she only wanted to follow the doctor halfway across. So we've been working on eye coordination. I'm usually the thing she is following but today I tried to get a video of her following a rattle. I needed a little more coordination to video and shake the rattle at the same time?!? But Marin did great!

I need to video her in her bouncy seat next. She will swat at her toys when she is sitting in it. She won't last long in there but it's usually what she plays in while I make dinner. Next time....

Morning Jog!

This morning Marin was ready for a morning jog. She kicked and moved her arms for a good 15 minutes. Burke will definitely have a running partner in a few years. I was able to get a few seconds of it before she got tired.

Sleeping Beauty

At 7 weeks, one of Marin's main responsibilities is to get enough sleep. Babies should be sleeping 12-14 hours a day (yes, Mom, that is what the book says....:o). I'm not sure if Marin sleeps quite that much these days but she sure does do her very best! And she is so cute at it too!
She takes about 3-4 catnaps a day for about 30-40 minutes. Hopefully these mini naps will eventually turn into 2 longer naps but for now that is what she likes! And it still takes her a few minutes to get fully awake. She will stretch, rub her eyes, and grunt a few times before you get the "pick me up now" smile. Sometimes you can get some good post nap snuggling but usually she's hungry or she's got a big doodly doo in her pants and she needs to be changed. Sometimes I think its her digetive system that causes those short naps...stinkin' doodles.
At night, she goes to bed around 9:30 and will wake up twice throughout the night (3-4 hour stretches) to eat and get changed. She wakes up for the day at around 6:30-7:00. The past two nights, I have kissed her good night and put her in her bassinet and she has put herself to sleep. Yay! She still sleeps in our room in the bassinet. Burke and I are discussing when she should be moved to her crib in her room. Yikes!

But overall, I would say we have a great, great sleeper! So thankful!

Love those cheeks and nugget fingers...

Arms up....

Arms down...

Here is a video from our vacation. If you listen really closely, you can hear some sweet Marin snores.

Family Vacation: Marin's Version

Marin had to wear a little sundress since we were going to be in sunny weather. Plus, the cute outfit probably won't fit her by the time warm weather ever comes to Chicago. Thanks to Leah for the cute vacation wear!
Those chubby legs ...gotta love them.

Here she is talking to Dad and getting ready for the day! I love her facial expression looking at Burke. She is listening so intently to him. Burke's facial expression is pretty entertaining as well. We learned that she loves it when her daddy/dad/Papa/Father (Burke isn't she what he wants to be called yet so we will see what comes out of her mouth...) sings the Superman theme song. It is hilarious!

Now, she didn't really sleep the whole vacation but apparently it was the only time we took pictures of her!

Her new little sun hat!

Relaxing in the sun...

The crib was too high for me so we had to invent a new sleeping arrangment. We put the crib mattress on the luggage rack. It worked perfectly and wish I had the set up at home. It was so easy to get to her in the middle of the night. Plus I could just reach over and pat her little belly if she needed a little comforting.

But then we all needed some snuggle time with the cutie....

Next vacation we will try and get more pictures of her with her eyes open.

Family Vacation: California

We did a lot of beach walking on this trip. It was so great to get outside and walk around!

Kite surfing....

Just so you know we were there since most of our pictures consist of Marin these days...

We thoroughly enjoyed the sunshine!

Beautiful! We drove around and saw all the huge houses and predicted which movie star lived in them. Just so you know, Burke is horrible with famous people. If you are ever on Millionaire or any other trivia game and need help with a movie star category, don't use Burke as your life line. Basically, every movie star is Kevin Costner simply because that was the only name he could think of...

Wacky Venice Beach and the Medical Marijuana Doctor's offices along the beach. They made me laugh. "The Doctor is In!"

Marin's first look at the Pacific Ocean.

We saw all the fancy shops and Burke quoted "Big Mistake, Big." a million times. Made me laugh each time. That and seeing countless Kevin Costners walking around. We didn't see any real famous people but we did see a woman that looked just like Michael Jackson...

Again, very fun trip!
